How to use rubber and plastic insulation for air ducts?

1. Scope of application

This construction method is applicable to the rubber and plastic insulation construction of rectangular metal air ducts in various types of air-conditioning and ventilation systems.

2. Process principle

This construction method is formed by improving the rubber and plastic insulationof the traditional galvanized steel air duct. The core is to improve the blanking method of the rubber and plastic insulation board. The four sides of the insulation layer are at right angles to reduce the bonding seam. Stakeout of the rubber-plastic insulation layer of the rectangular straight air duct, according to the side length of the air duct and the thickness of the rubber-plastic plate, the combination method shown in Figure 1 is adopted for the lofting. Calculate the stakeout size according to the pre-measured air duct specifications. Use a steel ruler or a steel tape to measure on the plate according to the calculated lofting size, and draw a V-shaped groove line and a 45-degree slope line on the plate with a square aluminum alloy ruler and a paintbrush. The seams between the insulation board and the surface of the air duct reduce the number of joints and enhance the heat preservation effect of the air duct.

The paper cutter is required to tilt left and right 45°when chamfering the corner, so that the cut "V"-shaped notch is 90°, which is convenient for folding into a right angle. When cutting, the tool should be close to the ruler to ensure a straight cut and prevent cutting size errors.

3. Key points of construction operation

1. Construction preparation:

(1) The direction, coordinates, and elevation of the air ducts of each system are installed accurately, and the air leakage and light leakage of the air ducts have been tested and tested to meet the requirements.

(2) Prepare the blanking list according to the model of the system air duct.

(3) Technicians make technical disclosures to construction personnel, clarify the size and requirements of thermal insulation blanking materials, and make good work instruction records

(4) Compile the erection scheme of the on-site processing operation platform to ensure that the construction conditions meet the implementation of the scheme.

2. Wipe and clean the surface of the air duct

Use rags, paint brushes and other tools to clean up the dust or putty and other attachments on the surface of the air duct to ensure that the surface of the air duct is clean and free of debris, and will not affect the surface coating.

3. According to the size of the air duct, the material of the insulation board is cut

The blanking of the insulation board is divided into straight pipe sections, elbows, variable diameter pipes and air valve parts, etc. All of them are cut as a whole. According to the specifications of the air pipes, V-shaped groove lines and 45-degree slope lines are drawn on the plates. The four corners of the pipe are cut and butted at a 45-degree angle to ensure that there is only one adhesive seam at the bottom or top of the air pipe.

4. Glue the surface of the air duct and the plate

Insulation glue should be evenly applied on the outer surface of air ducts, components or equipment, without gaps or omissions. Brush the glue in the order of brushing the insulation material first, then brushing the surface of the air duct, and the glue film is required to be even and free of flow.

5. Rubber and plastic plate pasting

After the glue is left to stand for 2 minutes to initially set, first paste the top plate and the rubber and plastic plates on both sides, press repeatedly with a clapper to ensure that the insulation material is tightly bonded to the air duct, components or equipment, and then paste the bottom insulation plate. For irregular parts such as right-angle elbows and B-shaped bends, the four sides can be pasted separately, and the side elevations can be pressed against the upper and lower bottom surfaces.

6. Flange insulation

For the flange connection of two air ducts, add a belt to keep warm. The width of the belt should be 100mm, and it should be firmly pasted and pressed flat.

7. Inspection and acceptance

After the rubber-plastic board is pasted, check the flatness with a level ruler, and locally press the parts that exceed the deviation range to ensure the flatness of the surface. After the rubber and plastic board is pasted and repaired, it will be reported to the supervisory unit for acceptance after self-inspection by the project department.
