Phenolic Board--the First Choice for Thermal Insulation Materials(part 2)
This article continues to talk about the advantages of phenolic insulation boards according to part1.
3. The phenolic insulation board has a very small amount of smoke in contact with the high-temperature flame, and the safety against suffocation is the best
All organic materials will show different heating characteristics or behaviors when exposed to high-temperature open flames. Specifically, any organic flame-retardant, combustible and flammable insulation materials (even the so-called inorganic non-combustible rock wool insulation board), will produce a certain amount and different components of gases or fumes that are toxic to the environment and the human body according to the chemical structure of the insulation material after encountering a high-temperature open flame.
In terms of thermal insulation materials and technical indicators of external wall insulation systems, although there is no regulation on the control of indicators for the amount of smoke released. But it is indeed a potential indicator that cannot be ignored.
In a real fire case, more than 50 fresh lives were taken away, most of the wounded were suffocation burns. Although some insulation materials used in building envelopes are non-combustible, the amount of smoke they generate when exposed to flames is indeed irresistible.
When contacting the phenolic insulation board with a welding flame (>1200°C), not only the phenolic insulation board is resistant to flame penetration, but also the amount of smoke generated by the phenolic insulation board in contact with the high-temperature flame is also extremely small.
4. Phenolic insulation board has the lowest thermal conductivity and the most energy-saving efficiency
According to thermal engineering theory, the smaller the thermal conductivity of the thermal insulation material, the greater the thermal resistance and the better the thermal insulation effect. That is to say, when the same thickness of insulation material is used for the building wall, the phenolic insulation board is the best. When the building achieves the same insulation effect, the thickness of the phenolic insulation board is the thinnest compared with any insulation material.
Specifically, the phenolic insulation board uses an environmentally friendly foaming agent to provide a uniform physical barrier (closed-cell structure) for the foam, so that the thermal conductivity of the phenolic insulation board is the lowest. By adopting the thinnest phenolic insulation board, the insulation material occupies a small area, the insulation system is stable, the construction is convenient, and the application can achieve the best insulation effect.
5. Phenolic insulation board has the highest temperature resistance
After the foam insulation material is produced and formed, it should be aged at a certain temperature according to the relevant product standards, which is also called curing. The main purpose of aging is to promote the gradual and stable reaction of thermosetting foam materials at a certain temperature, so that the moisture in thermoplastic foam can be discharged, and so on. After aging, the performance of the foam material finally reaches a stable use state.
The temperature resistance of thermal insulation materials is often overlooked by people. The actual application temperature of foam thermal insulation materials on the wall is higher than the aging temperature. In the hot summer, the temperature of the thermal insulation wall is higher, and the thermal conductivity of the thermal insulation material is lower. The generated heat is not transmitted to the wall but is retained in the foam insulation material, which can easily cause the insulation board to bulge, warp or deform in other ways. It involves the stability of insulation materials, and the internal reason is that the structure, density and temperature are directly related.
The temperature resistance of phenolic foam is higher than that of all organic insulation materials used in external insulation of building exterior walls. Because phenolic foam has the advantage of high temperature resistance, when it is used for building envelope insulation, it will not cause shrinkage, expansion and other deformation of the phenolic foam insulation board due to long-term high-temperature weather exposure, high base temperature or other high-temperature factors.
6. Phenolic insulation board has the best solvent resistance
The results of soaking organic foam insulation materials with appropriate solvents prove that the insoluble ones are thermosetting, and the soluble ones are thermoplastic. The phenomenon of solvent soaking foam insulation materials is not only one of the methods to identify thermosetting or thermoplastic properties, but also fully reflects that thermosetting phenolic foam (including polyurethane rigid foam) has good chemical structure stability and application safety.
Phenolic foam is resistant to a variety of organic and inorganic solvents, such as ethyl acetate, gasoline, kerosene, benzene, toluene, perchlorethylene, and sulfuric acid (10%), hydrochloric acid (10%), amine hydroxide (concentrated), hydroxide Sodium (10%) etc.
7. Phenolic insulation board is the best in environmental protection and pest resistance
The development of environmentally friendly materials and the construction of green buildings have always been the basic principles advocated by the state. The surrounding ecological environment cannot be damaged because of building energy conservation. The production of thermal insulation materials must protect the environment and must not cause adverse effects on ecology. The application is healthy and hygienic, and does not reduce the service life of the external wall insulation system. The production and development of phenolic insulation boards meet the requirements of relevant national regulations.
8. Phenolic insulation board has the widest range of applications
According to design requirements, there are many types of phenolic insulation boards. Because it is an automatic continuous production line, it can be processed and produced at will according to user requirements. For example, the thickness of phenolic insulation boards can be produced at any thickness within 120mm, and the length of tens of meters can be continuously produced. Application The potential is huge.
In summary, from the perspective of the development of the building insulation industry, the production of phenolic insulation boards has no environmental pollution, and has many advantages in terms of product performance and application technology, such as high-efficiency insulation, fire and flame retardancy, low bulk density, stable performance, and environmental protection and health. Its application in the building insulation industry ranks first among all insulation materials, and it is unanimously considered an irreplaceable insulation material.
