5 main criteria for evaluating the quality of CNC cutting machines

Usually, when we judge the cutting quality of a CNC cutting machine, we usually use five factors as the standard. They are the width of the notch, the surface roughness, the verticality of the edge of the notch, the width of the heat-affected zone and the amount of dross. 1. The width of the incision

It measures the Ra value on the cross section at 2/3 of the depth of the cut. Due to the effect of cutting airflow, the main form of longitudinal vibration in the cutting forward direction is cutting ripples. Generally, the surface roughness after oxyacetylene cutting is required to be: level 1 Ra≤30μm, level 2 Ra≤50μm, level 1 Ra≤100μm. The Ra value of plasma arc cutting is usually higher than that of CNC flame cutting machine, but lower than laser cutting (Less than 50μm).

3. The perpendicularity of the edge of the incision

is also an important parameter reflecting the cutting quality, which is related to the degree of reprocessing after cutting. This index is usually expressed by perpendicularity u or angle tolerance. Generally speaking, the U value of plasma arc cutting is closely related to the plate thickness and process parameters, usually in the range of U≤(1%~4%)δ (δ is the plate thickness) and laser cutting U≤0.5mm.

Four. The width of the heat-affected zone

This index is very important for low-alloy steel or alloy steel that can be hardened or heat-treated. Excessive width of the heat-affected zone will significantly change the performance near the notch. The width of the heat-affected zone of air plasma arc cutting is about 0.3 mm, and the width of the heat-affected zone of underwater plasma arc cutting can be narrower.

Fifth, the amount of dross

It describes how much oxidized dross or resolidified material adheres to the lower edge of the incision after thermal cutting. The degree of dross is usually determined by visual observation, and is generally described in terms of no, light, medium, and heavy.
